How does bidding work?
You can place two kinds of bids on ADESA Clear, hard bids and proxy bids.
- A hard bid is placed immediately, and if you win the auction you will pay the exact amount that you bid.
- A proxy bid will “match” the highest bid on the vehicle, up to the amount of the proxy bid. Meaning: If the current bid is $100, and you place a proxy bid of $500, your current bid would be $200. Then if someone else bids $300, you would automatically rebid to $400. Finally, if someone bids $500, your proxy bid of $500 will overrule their bid, as you placed yours before they did. At that point, you would be the current high bidder at $500.
